Norman the poodle-catalyst for home remodel

I have spent the good part of the winter in primary focus on remodeling my home.  It started out with a foster dog.  Norman was a great little poodle, but decided to poop on the rug when I wasn’t looking.  The carpeting was very old and I decided I would re-do all the floors and get rid of all the carpeting in the house.  When it came time to tear out the carpet in the living room, there was some soft wood on one corner were a leak had been.  Handyman time, and Rod came to replace the subfloor.  I KNEW I needed to replace the roof, and figured I better do that before it leaked and ruined the new flooring.  So Byron, the roofer, came out and replaced roofing joists and then reroofed.  Since living in the house (2 years), I didn’t know what to do with the living room, as it had 3 layers of textured wallpaper.  It wasn’t easy to get it off of the walls, but I knew I best figure it out prior to completing the floors.  The job became a bit overwhelming, so I brought in 3 guys to help with tearing off the wallpaper and prepping to paint the living room and hall.  In one weekend, they did what was asked and even painted said walls.  They did an okay job, but when it was all over and done with, it turned out to be a really rough job.  Today I go buy a sander and this weekend is dedicated to sanding those walls again and possibly repainting.

As they say, when it rains it pours.  In the meantime, the dishwasher decided to quit, the bottom element in the hot water tank went out, even my hair dryer crashed and burned.  However, the bottom line is that I am loving my new house with the new floors, new throw rugs, and themed rooms.  I’ve spent way too much money on the home, but it was very much needed and now it is going to be MY home, done MY way.  I’ve never done this before.  It just seems that I’m upgrading my life in general.  My happiness level is so much higher than it has ever been, and my awareness level is tops.  I think my foster dog days are behind me, but I appreciate that in a sense, Norman gave me a remodeled home!
